If the construction of your staircase is only a few months old then you do not need to do a complete remodeling job. All you will need to do is clean it. Wipe the wooden staircase with a dry cloth and follow it up by cleaning it again with a microfiber cloth that is damp.

If you have a metal staircase, such as wrought iron, you will just need a commercial cleaner to clean it and then wipe it off. To help keep your staircase clean and not need a full interior remodeling make-over you should clean your stairs at least once a month. Once you clean your staircase you could follow it up with polish, especially if it is a wooden staircase.

You want to make sure that you are using a good quality wooden furnishing polish to give your staircase a natural finish. If you have a staircase that is painted and you can find the paint to match it you can just cover the areas where the paint has been chipped off or any thin scratches.
